Easing into Fall

As the weather gets cooler, I start to have conflicting emotions: the love of fall and the dread of winter. So, while I love fall clothes and am so excited to wear them, I still can't help wanting to hold onto summer. I could write I a few thousand words about it, but I thought I would just post some representative pictures instead.

I stopped at Old Navy yesterday to pick up some socks and long sleeved shirts for Luke (I love the baby waffle knits!), and snagged this sweater for myself. I have nothing else like it. I love the color combination - it probably wouldn't have occurred to me to put them together. I make a point to try on things that I don't think I that I will like, but that might surprise me, and this time, it really paid off. I think it will look great with jeans or white pants, or even dressed up with black pants for work.

Summer shoes, summer skirt, shades...and a fall colored sweater. Perfect. Since the sweater is fairly tight, I opted for a loss fitting skirt to balance things out. I have found this to be a good general guideline, since wearing tight pieces on the top and bottom may send the wrong message, and loose on both can tend to look dumpy.

  1. Wow Laura. I've never seen you wear anything like that before! Bravo. I think this look could also work with tights and black booties.

  2. Oh, good idea! I have black shorts I could layer over the tights too. I haven't found black booties yet, though...
