Cheetah and Snakeskin

Who says that you can't mix animal prints?

I tried combining cheetah and snakeskin, what do you think?

Together at Last

One of the best things about our trip to Florida is that we got to spend so much time with family, which meant plenty of sister time. Since Katie only worked one of the days during our trip, we drove out to see where she works. And it was amazing. The resort community is beautiful, especially when seen from a golf cart with the best tour guide ever.

Here is the closet of the guest house where brides and their attendants get ready before weddings.  Can you imagine having such an enormous closet? And it is even bigger than it looks. I don't think I could ever fill it, but I wouldn't mind trying...

Oh, and of course, the adjoining bathroom, complete with seating, a small tree, and great views.

Husband, baby, sister...some of my very favorite people in the world.

Evolution of Fashion

I saw this video at a fellow bloggers website. Jessica Quirk and What I Wore

Enjoy!

Fashion Flop

I wore this outfit to church a few weeks ago thinking that it was a total hit. Now after viewing the pictures it is more of a "miss."

There is nothing spectalar about it. The brown color of the sweater seems washed out with this combination, the skirt is too big and too long, and I'm not even wearing a necklace.

Fashion is trial and error I realize, so I will try to restyle these peices at another time to redeem them.

Shirt: Ann Taylor Factory Store
Skirt: Ann Taylor Factory Store (a size too big)
Sweater: Gap Outlet
Earrings: Old Navy
Sandals: Payless

How would you style this outfit to make it a hit rather than a miss?

Happy 1st Birthday Luke!

Today is Luke's 1st Birthday! I can't believe how fast (and slow) it has gone. While we were in Florida, we went out to our traditional birthday spot - Norris' Famous Place for Ribs - to celebrate Luke, Katie, and Peter's birthdays, which are all in September. Aren't the hats festive? I love it!

Here is a quick version of Luke's Year in Pictures:

One great thing about having a baby is that not only do you shop for yourself, but for him as well. I love dressing him for occasions, whether it be halloween at Chipotle, a baseball game, watching the Chicago Bears, going to the beach, or matching his daddy in plaids.

Baby Shower 2

So today was the second baby shower of the summer and I still have two more to go!

It is in the upper 90's today so I decided to go with a strapless skirt/dress number from Forever 21. It's festive yet still appropriate for a church shower.

My dog Copper tried to get in on the picture taking action. He kept barking and barking to try to get our attention and take pictures of him. The picture below to the right is me going a little crazy from the barking.

Any thoughts on how to combat the pouffe in the back under the belt?

Tailoring: Grey Pants

These are the pants that I bought a few weeks ago, and I decided to take them to the tailor instead of hemming them myself. I like the grey color and slight texture, and I love the fact that I didn't have to agonize over the right length for the hem or spend an hour pinning and blind-stitching them.

All I had to do was step up to the mirror and look ahead. He pinned them and asked if it was the correct length (it was), and then I changed back into my shorts and left. I think that from now on, with high quality pants, this will be my new modus operandi. For $10, I think it is worth it.

I got the shirt, and another of the same in eggplant, the other day during the 50% off the clearance rack sale at Ann Taylor. Do you like it tucked in with a belt or left untucked better?

Do you hem your own pants or take them to a tailor?
