Work Ready Shout Outs

It seems like most of the petite bloggers that I read do a variation on this theme all the time. And the reason why is that it works so well. Really, this outfit is an ode to some of my favorite petite bloggers.

I just bought the nude pumps from Target. Jean of Extra Petite has done several reviews of nude pumps lately, and I was on the lookout (See here and here and here). It seems that everyone in the fashion world is singing the praises of nude pumps, and calling them a wardrobe staple. Thus, when I saw them, I tried them on, shuffled down the aisle (they were connected by an elastic string), and then promptly added them to my cart full of toilet paper and produce (If I bought them at Target, they are kind of like groceries, right?). It is true what they say: if they match your skin tone well, they make your legs look longer. Being 4' 10", I could use some of that.

As for the pencil skirt with tucked in shirt and skinny belt, I was inspired by Kelly of Alterations Needed (See here) and Kileen of Cute & Little (See here). This look is great for emphasizing the waist and looking polished and put together for work.

Finally, in my quest to become competent at self-timed pictures, I ran across this article about posing for pictures on Inside Out Style. It really helps to have a plan for posing, since every time I take a picture, I have to run back and forth. Maybe I should just get a remote, but either way, it is nice not to have to take so many pictures just to get one good one.

  1. First of all I would like to say how proud I am that you are now sporting the poof hairdo. Love it. What are you doing with the rest of your hair in the back? Is it in a bun? I'm just curious.

Love the post. Quality as always :).

  2. Yes, I am learning to love the poof. I have so many baby hairs growing in post-baby that are about 2 inches long, and when I part my hair, they all spike up. I have found a handy trick though: smooth them down with chap stick! It works like a pomade and I always have it handy. Otherwise, the poof does a pretty good job. And in the back, it is in a bun.
